History

First generation

 1880

Heinrich Woermann founded the firm as a subcontractor.

Second generation

1890

In 1890 the firm gave up being a subcontractor and traded on its own behalf.  After Heinrich’s son,Heinrich Woermann died in the First World War, the two brothers, Gustav and Wilhelm Woermann, took over the business.

 Third generation

1935

In 1935 Wilhelm Woermann was bought out by Gustav Woermann who then lead the firm by himself.

1944

When Gustav Wörmann died in 1944 the firm was taken over by his wife Hildegard.

Fourth generation

1963

Heinz-Dieter Woermann conducted the business from thereon and redeveloped the company completely.

1990

In the year 1990 the Heinrich Wiechen and then in 1994 the Koch and Soehne company  were taken over.

Fifth Generation

1997

Peter Woermann stepped into his Father’s shoes  in 1997 when Dieter Wörmann retired.

2000

The year when the firm became Woermann & Scholle GmbH and Friedrich Scholle GmbH und CO KG

2001

Woermann & Scholle GmbH & Co KG followed. Together with the CITA Tenerife the new company of Woermann Cigars GmbH was established and  Thomas Strickrock joined this company as an associate and became Managing Director together with Peter Woermann and Friedrich Scholle.

2003

Friedrich Scholle retired.

2005

Woermann Cigars took over the distribution from Charles Fairmon.
